Meet Shiraz Malla Mohamad, our fifth ambassador in 2024
Undoubtedly, Shiraz Malla Mohamad can be defined as a born learner. Ten years ago, Shiraz, whose mother tongue was Kurdish, began learning German from scratch. Now, he’s a junior data analyst at FIZ Karlsruhe – Leibniz Institute for Information Infrastructure. He’s currently pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Science in IT at Bergisch University of Wuppertal, driven by a passion for data analytics. As a member of the MaRDI Team for the MaRDI portal (mardi4nfdi.de), Shiraz actively contributes to diverse tasks in the swMATH infrastructure. swMATH is an information service about mathematical software and part of the European Open Science Cloud, through its participation in the FAIRCORE4EOSC project. His work encompasses analyzing, mapping, collecting, and archiving datasets while pioneering innovative solutions through modern digital techniques.
Shiraz possesses a diverse skill set that includes proficiency in multiple languages—English, German, Kurdish, and Arabic. In addition to his linguistic talents, he’s well-versed in essential technical tools such as Linux, Python, XSLT, Java, and SQL. This combination empowers him to address complex data challenges with remarkable efficiency. Through his work on the swMATH platform with FAIRCORE4EOSC, he gained valuable experience collaborating with diverse institutes, organizations, and researchers. This involved developing technical and programming solutions tailored to their requirements, leveraging tools like Python, XML, JSON, and XSLT to accomplish many tasks. At home in international environments, Shiraz looks forward to promoting the vision of Software Heritage within the Kurdish and Arabic-speaking developer communities.
His journey is already rich in milestones. Looking back, the Shiraz of 2024 might say to the Shiraz of 2014: « Despite all the challenges and doubt, you never stopped aiming high. Your ambitions always exceeded the limits around you, and your dreams soared beyond the confines of your circumstances. Remember, never give up.“
